We are a family of three living and dreaming amidst the bluffs and river valleys of northeast Iowa. We are forever fascinated and inspired by our little corner of the Earth, and spend as much time as we can on foot in the woods and fields investigating local ecologies and further acquainting ourselves with the “neighbors”—the incomparable animals, plants and fungi of the Driftless region! We have learned a good deal over the years and we keep on learning.
We share our knowlege, enthusiasm and love for wild nature through classes, workshops, and apprenticeships. At the heart of our teaching is the practice of foraging or wildcrafting. It is our belief that there is a special magic in the touching and tasting of foraging—something in the wandering and searching, the digging, sorting and scrubbing, in the cooking and the sharing of wild foods with others that breaks down a barrior between oneself and nature. We believe that, just like the rest of earth’s creatures, each of us is well equipped to learn the terrain of wild nature, and to competently, safely and responsibly engage the abundance that is out there around every corner.
We have offered classes in the region for over ten years now and are a trusted source of guidance and instruction in matters of wild food and ecology. Consider joining us on an adventure or reaching out to learn more!
